New Life Guards
The new group of lifeguard award candidates is the biggest I have seen and I would guess the biggest ever.
We have 23 people on the course from 14 year olds who have been through the Junior Surf Programme to adults who are new to the lifeguarding fraternity.
This is great news for the club and I am absolutely stoked to see this.
Obviously this is hard work for the instructors and I have great pleasure in welcoming Gary Waller, Dylan Turpie and Wiremu Lovett to the group who are adding their considerable knowledge and skills to this group.
These guys will be sitting their Instructors Award along with this group and are working hard to ensure the group and themselves all pass.
The award seems to get more demanding every year but it ensures we have lifeguards on our beach who are of the highest standard.
The exam is in early November, if you get a chance come down to see what is going on, and help if you can, I will give out details as I get them. We will need lifeguards in the water and on the beach.
We will have a lot of new people around also, so if have been around for a while, make yourself known to these people, they are the future of our club.
Let me know if you are interested in instructing, it’s a great way to give something back to the club.
